All right, starting to see red and the day’s pretty much over anyway.

It’s been absolutely no fun at all and it was nice just having people who agreed with me on stuff so I don’t regret the few months I ran this blog. In fact the main reason I never quit before was because I really enjoyed feeling accepted and acknowledged by like-minded people who wouldn’t shut me down for talking about my opinions. So thanks for all the encouragement and for letting me know I wasn’t entirely crazy.

I’ve made a few mistakes and maybe even hurt some people during my time here but I’m not perfect and I’m always trying to change for the better. To those of you who listened to me long enough to understand what I was trying to do even if you disagreed rather than making assumptions or projecting preconceptions as a lot of us are wont to do, I hope you keep on being good to people and maybe all of us can work on not being assholes to each other. Unless you’re forgetting that a lot of the trauma experienced by female rape victims comes from the fact that they received physical pleasure and thought that meant it was somehow their fault or that they were asking for it.

Rape is never the victim’s fault. Ever, under no circumstances. That was the entire point of my response. That still doesn’t change the fact that this person is equating an erection to consent, and therefore saying that even in those rare cases where a man is forcefully raped by a woman, as long as he had an erection it was okay.

A crime doesn’t fucking have to be common for people to sit down and acknowledge “Huh, you know, if this ever happens it’s not cool.”

I saw a post just yesterday saying men who claim to be rape victims are probably misremembering or lying about the fact that they were the ones who forced themselves their alleged rapists, though. And plenty of 12-year-old boys who fall victim to statutory rape don’t get blamed for it but they’re congratulated as if what happened to them was okay and dismissed if they said they didn’t like it.

I don’t think most people who say men get raped too are trying to deny that many rapists are men so much as pointing out that rape isn’t something exclusive to men, or a crime that doesn’t harm men as well. I don’t see why speaking about one problem automatically has to mean ignoring another?
